Hi, my name is Kelly and I am a natural horsemanship trainer living in devon. I've been working with horses for 10 years now and still love every minute. I began my career with horses at a local saddle club, where I still work part time. Here I achieved my BHS stage 1&2 and PTT, I am also CRB checked and 1st aid trained. I recently attended courses on horsemanship skills, equine pschology and training, and working towards being a Horse Agility Accredited Trainer (HAAT). I have worked with various trainers including Heather Seems, Vanessa bee and ken faulkner.
I began to learn about natural horsemanship when I bought my first horse, a fabulous 14.1hh welsh pony who taught me a steep learning curve. She was a chestnut mare, who was well known at the saddle club for her stroppiness. She would bite and kick when led, rugged, caught or saddled. She bucked almost constantly when ridden and was a nightmare with other horses, kicking any animal within striking distance. I bought her regardless, and with lessons from the lovely Heather Seems I began to learn about her body langage and how I could help to change it. I very quickly learnt that the poor mare was very scared. All the displays of violence were actually a 'tough guy' act to scare away people. Underneath she was very sweet and we became best friends. Every horse I've come into contact since, I've handled with natural horsemanship methods in mind. Each horse I've owned has taught me something and in particluar the horse I've had for the past 2 years has really pushed my learning on and encouraged me to teach more natural horsemanship. I am always striving to better understand the horse and also to help others understand their own horses and consequently improve the relationship between them.
